Singletary Tops Off Junior Billiards EventBy InsidePOOL Staff Over 15 junior pool players came to Baker's Billiards in Tampa, FL, for the second event on the Junior Billiards Tour. The March 5 event was dominated by 17-year-olds Denny Singletary and Wayne Hutter, but Singletary came out on top by collecting the most points. Nine of the players in attendance are currently among the top-ranked junior players in the country, so all of the events were highly competitive. Singletary, from Marianna, FL, came out on top of the 10-ball ring game with a $200 Nick Varner Cue and the second position in the upcoming six-person ring game championships, which will be held at the Orlando Open in August. The win also earned Singletary 100 points, launching him into a third-pace tie with 12-year-old Matthew Menes, who also had a solid day of play. Menes placed fourth in the 10-ball, second in the 9-ball Top Gun Shootout, while also winning the second chance 9-ball event. Hutter, who currently holds the lead in the points race, dominated the 9-ball shootout for the second time in a row, defeating Menes in an exciting hill-hill match. Hutter took home a $100 Nick Varner Cue, while also earning 50 additional tour points. Mike Mallen, along with Hutter, both won qualifying spots to the BCA Junior Nationals in June, while Amber Jankowski, 13, won the spot in the girl's open division. 10-Ball Ring Game Results: 1st Denny Singletary 2nd Mike Mallen 3rd Wayne Hutter 4th Mitchell Menes 5th Justin Gilsinan 6th Trey Jankowski 9-Ball Top Gun Shootout: 1st Wayne Hutter 2nd Mitchell Menes 3rd Denny Singletary Second Chance 9-Ball: 1st Matthew Menes 2nd Roger Aleong 3rd Amber Jankowski Visit InsidePOOL for the latest news from the Junior Billiards Tour.
