Song Seals Deal in GeorgiaBy Bill Rosenberger The J. Pechauer Southeast 9-Ball Tour stopped in Marietta, GA, on November 6-7 at Side Pockets Cue Club and Grill. Newcomer Paul Song, who took home the first-place finish, dominated the nineteenth stop of the season. The $1,000-added event drew 21 talented players, but Song became the early favorite with his outstanding play. He cruised through the field to earn a spot in the hot seat match against Israel Hightower, and Song pulled out the competitive contest 9-7. Hightower stepped over to the one-loss side to face Bruce Berrong, who had advanced thanks to a 9-8 win over Mike Staubes. Berrong raced to a big lead and never looked back, winning 9-1 to earn a spot in the finals. The final match between Berrong and Song was back and forth, with neither player getting a substantial lead. They battled to reach hill-hill, and Song ran the table to take the victory 11-10. Other winners in the tournament included Allison Ritter, who was the highest ladies' finisher; Jerry Bernard, who was the highest junior finisher; and the Red Cross of Marietta, who was the recipient of donations during the two-day event.
