Sweet Comeback for Nau on NYC TourBy Bill Rosenberger The NYC Billiard Tour stopped in Sunnyside, NY, on February 12-13 for its event at Master Billiards. The field of 30 players was small, but the talent was not lacking, as Victor Nau came back from an early defeat to earn his first win of the year. The early favorites were Joey Kong and Bob Begay, as the two whistled through the winners' bracket to meet in the hot seat match. Begay took the win to reach the finals, while Kong headed to the semifinals to play Nau. Nau not only had the finals on his mind but also a little revenge. It was Kong who knocked him to the one-loss side earlier in the day. Although the match was a struggle, Nau pulled out the victory to reach the finals. The final match between Nau and Begay was a dramatic contest for the fans and players left in attendance. They battled back and forth until the match reached 10 apiece, but Nau took the next two games to reach the hill first at 12-10. Begay stayed on course and won the following rack to bring him within one game, but Nau closed in out in Game 24 to earn a 13-11 win. Results: 1st Victor Nau $1,100 2nd Bob Begay $575 3rd Joe Kong $330 4th Mark Vidal $225 5th Dan Barouty, Erik Adelman $75 7th Eddie Vasquez, Guy Carney $60 Visit InsidePOOL for the latest news from the NYC Billiard Tour.
