On the weekends of Feb. 21-23 and March 1-2, the APA will host regionalqualifying events throughout the nation at these locations:Shooters Billiards Center, Newington, Conn.Sports 2000, Dudalk, Md.Fast Break Lounge, Summerville, S.C.Trick Shots Metro West, Orlando, Fla.Planet 9-Ball, Tampa, Fla.University Billiard Club, Jacksonville, Fla.Brian Boru's, Lake Worth, Fla.Golden Eight Ball, Columbus, OhioSecrets, Shreveport, La.The Billiard Center, Cape Girardeau, Mo.Sheraton Brookhollow, HoustonThe Mix, Montrose, Calif.Forrest Lodge VFW, Sellersville, Pa.Ivy Farm Billiards, Newport News, Va.Steve's Billiards, Huntsville, Ala.John Wayne's Pub & Eatery, IndianapolisCue Balls, Decatur, Ill.Charley's, McCook, Neb.Greenfields, Lakewood, Colo.Carriage Square Sports Pub, Kent, Wash.Boss Q, Winnipeg, Manitoba, CanadaMain Event Station, Orangeville, o­ntario, CanadaCorner Pocket, Orangeville, o­ntario, CanadaThe National Singles Championships will be held April 24-26 at the RivieraHotel & Casino.  Last year, 35,000 APA members attempted to qualify forregional competition in this event.  More than 5,000 members advanced toregional competition, with nearly 350 advancing to the championship rounds.All nationally qualified players receive free lodging and travel courtesy ofthe APA.To be eligible to compete in the APA Singles Program, a member must haveattained 10 League match scores during the past two years.  Players who areeligible pay a $15 entry fee to play o­n a Local Qualifier Board consistingof eight APA members.  Local Qualifier Board winners advance to Regional andNational competition with no additional entry fees.  Board winners advanceregionally and nationally into o­ne of three Skill Level Tiers thatcorresponds with their skill level.  The APA, based in Lake Saint Louis, Mo., sanctions the world's largestamateur pool league, known as the APA Pool League throughout the UnitedStates, and as the Canadian Pool League in Canada.  More than 215,000members compete in weekly 8-Ball and 9-Ball league play.Michelob AmberBock is the official beer of the APA and sponsor of the APA8-Ball League and 8-Ball National Team Championships.  The Diamond SmartTable, Simonis 860 billiard cloth, Super Aramith billiard balls, the SardoTight Rack and the Billiard Club Network (BCn) are also official billiardindustry sponsors of the APA and APA National Championships.The APA is generally recognized as the Governing Body of Amateur Pool,having established the official rules, championships, formats and handicapsystems for the sport of amateur billiards.  o­ne of the keys to the successof the APA league, administered by local League Operators, is TheEqualizer*, the handicap and scoring system that makes it possible for menand women of different playing abilities-especially beginners-to compete o­nan equal basis, much like they do in golf and bowling.The APA produces three major tournaments each year-the APA National TeamChampionships, the APA National Singles Championships and the U.S. AmateurChampionship-that, together, pay out more than $1 Million in cash and prizesannually!For more information o­n the National Singles Championships, visit theofficial APA Web site at poolplayers.com. or call 1-800-3-RACK-EM.
