The “Duchess of Doom,” Allison Fisher, met Corr in the hot seat match and had a 7-2 advantage before the tables were turned, and Corr won the next seven games in a row to win the match 9-7. Atlanta player and number-three ranked on the WPBA, Helena Thornfeldt met Lee in the finals of the one-loss side and sent her home with a fourth-place showing. Fisher then met certain defeat at the hands of Lee, sweet revenge for their finals match at the Delta Classic several weeks ago in which Fisher won with a tight 7-5 score. The Duchess went home with a surprising third place, while Lee went on to play Corr in the finals. With enviable determination, Lee was up 7-2 before Corr could do anything about it. Lee only allowed her opponent one more game before her total domination took over, and she won the final match by a stunning 11-3 decision. Tournament director Cathy Jennings said afterward, “Karen never really had a shot. She never had a chance to get out of the box. I think that’s an advantage, coming from the losers’ bracket.” Jennings also reported, “It was a really good tournament. Everybody had a great time. And we couldn’t have done it without our sponsors.” 1st Jeanette Lee $7,0002nd Karen Corr $5,0003rd Allison Fisher $3,3004th Helena Thornfeldt $2,300 Visit InsidePOOL for the latest in the sport of billiards and pool.
