The Japan Cup Continues

SyujiNagataMikeImmonen.jpgDay Three of the Japan Cup saw the world-class field whittled down to the final eight players.  The Japan Cup began on Thursday and will continue through Sunday, June 13.

One notable match on Saturday was between Syuji Nagata and former world champion Mika “Iceman” Immonen of Finland.  With the score tied at 9-all going to 11, Immonen scratched on the 9 ball, handing the hill to his opponent.  In the final rack, Nagata played an excellent safety on the 7 ball.  Immonen fouled, giving the game to Nagata 11-9.

Sunday’s matches between the final eight will be as follows:

Ralf Souquet versus Kiyoshi Suzuki
Thorsten Hohmann versus Francisco Bustamante
Syuji Nagata versus Charlie Williams
Efren Reyes versus Jeong Young Hwa
