Three-Cushion Star Sang Lee Passes Away

Sang Chun Lee, the 12-time United States Billiards Association 3-Cushion Champion, passed away in his native country of Korea  o­n October 19.  Lee, who was 51, brought his game to the United State in 1987 and was a dominant force throughout the 1990s o­n the billiard table.

According to sources from the USBA, Lee became ill in the early summer months and was later taken to Korea, where he died of stomach cancer.  Lee had won 12 straight titles from 1990-2001 and finished second in 2002.  He did not compete in the last two years. 

Lee was the owner of S & L Billiards until he sold it in 2000.   Three-cushion billiards, considered by most experts to be the most difficult carom game in the world, is played with no pockets and with three balls.  Lee was considered a master o­n the table and revered by some as the best cushion player ever.

His business and billiards partner Michael Kang was unavailable for comment.
