Tides Turn to Cook's Favor at Fury Stop Tommy Cook was in stroke from the beginning of the two-day tournament, going undefeated to take top honors at Pastime in Greenville, NC. The Fury Tidewater Amateur 9-Ball Tour had an event there July 31-August 1, 2004, drawing a field of 27 to the $500-added event.
Welcoming players and spectators alike to her room, owner Wendy Teaden kicked things off by having a hog roast and showing everyone a great time. The tournament was played out on the room's ten 9-foot Brunswick tables, but Pastime also has two 9-foot Diamond tables and two bar tables. The tour and its participants are eagerly anticipating their next stop at Pastime on November 13-14, 2004.
Cruising through the bracket, Cook met Mack Harrell for the hot seat, where he had total control. Cook continued his climb to victory by sending Harrell to the one loss-side with a 7-3 victory. Frank Owens put Steven Page in fourth place with a 5-2 score while working his way through the one-loss side. Owens then met up with Harrell after his hot-seat defeat to play for third. Harrell was left behind as Owens racked another 5-2 victory, moving onto the final match.
Cook started out strong in the final race to 9, shooting to a 5-1 lead while Owens could only watch. Owens was able to take a few more racks, but it wasn't enough as Cook played consistently and swept to the finish with a 9-4 win.
