Triple Wins on Tri-State Tour by InsidePOOL Magazine

Triple Wins on Tri-State Tour

By Todd Fleitman

The Tri-State Tour conducted three separate handicapped 9-ball tournaments for the “B,” “C,” and “D” classes of players on April 30-May 1 at Spin City Caf้ & Billiards in Woodside, NY.  The tournament featured Jay Wright claiming his second victory of the tour by claiming the “C” class title.

In the “B” division, Edward Rodriguez was the favorite as he came into the hot seat having won five consecutive matches.  In the meantime, Carl Yusef Khan and John Trobiano met in the semifinals, which was claimed by Trobiano 7-4.  The final match featured the undefeated Rodriguez against Trobiano.  Rodriguez played like a true champion as he pitched the shutout over Trobiano 7-0 to claim the “B” class title.

The “C” division featured a streaking Jay Wright opposite Ryan Bandoy, who bested Matt Daspin 6-5 to reach the final via the one-loss side.  Wright was apparently in the same mindset as “B” class winner Rodriguez because he demolished Bandoy 6-0 in the final match.

Paul Jacobson’s 5-4 win over Mike Mahon in the hot seat placed him in the “D” class final against Romeo Singh.  The back-and-forth match ended up at hill-hill before Jacobson took the final game and the tournament.

“B” Class Results:

1st Edward Rodriguez

2nd John Trobiano

3rd Carl Yusef Khan

“C” Class Results:

1st Jay Wright

2nd Ryan Bandoy

3rd Matt Daspin

“D” Class Results:

1st Paul Jacobson

2nd Romeo Singh

3rd Mike Mahon
