Tri-State Tour Takes NY by Storm

by InsidePOOL Staff

The Tri-State Tour held its weekly stop at Amsterdam Billiards West in New York City, NY, this weekend.  The $1,000-added event drew 57 of the finest amateurs players in the Big Apple to compete in the three separate divisions.

Amsterdam Billiards West is one of the centers for billiards in New York City and is a regular haven for most of their top players, such as George "Ginky" SanSouci, Robb Saez, and Mika Immonen.  It has been a host location for professional tour stops for many years.

This weekend, however, the amateurs took over.  In the "B" class, Dan Chapman came from the one-loss side of the board to defeat Tony Liang twice in the finals.  Both matches went to the hill, with Chapman triumphant both times, winning 7-6, 7-6.

Paul Bausch overtook the "C" division.  According to John Leyman, Bausch's game is much improved recently, and he went through the one-loss side handily defeating his opponents to meet up with Robert Parrazzi in the finals, whom he beat twice, 6-5, 6-1.

"D" class winner Dave Fitzpatrick lost his first match of the day to Tony DeGregorio 5-3, only to come back and defeat him 5-1 in the finals.

The Tri-State Tour's next event will be May 31, 2003, at Plaza Billiards in Rahway, NJ, for B, C, and D divisions, and June 1, 2003, at West End Billiards in Elizabeth, NJ, for A, B, C, and D divisions.
