Two Junior Champs Battle for 10K WinBy Bill Rosenberger Two of Canada's best young pool players fought their way to the finals on Sunday, January 30 at Pool Paradise in Waterloo, Ontario. John Morra, the current BCA Junior 18 and under champion, and Chris Jenkings, a former junior champ, both emerged to duel it out for the top spot of the day. Over 80 players filled the brackets, but they found it tough to battle the best players around. Twelve players returned for the second day of the event, with Morra leading the way through the one-loss bracket and Jenkings breezing through on his way to the hot seat match. Jenkings faced Dave McMahon for the hot seat and knocked him out 7-4. In the west side, Morra ousted Yanick Bedard 8-5, and then he set up to play McMahon in the semifinals. But McMahon forfeited his match, citing health reasons. The final match was a true display of skill by Morra and Jenkings. Neither of these young pool sharks gave an inch, and the match reached hill-hill. In the final game, Jenkings gained control of the table and ran through to win 9-8. Results: 1st Chris Jenkings $2,250 2nd John Morra $1,400 3rd Dave McMahon $900 4th Yanick Bedard $650 5th Randy Fawcett, Bob Little $450 7th Mike Fisher, Scott McDonald $200 Visit InsidePOOL for the latest news from the 10K Tour.
