U.S. Open Bar Table 8-Ball Division Kicks Off

By Mark Whiteside

At noon on Saturday, 128 players from around North America prepared to start the 8-ball division and fight for their part of the $21,500 purse. Many of the usual suspects for a Reno event were present, including international star, Jose Parica. Other notables include Tinsley Johnson; Stan Tourangeau; Jason Kane; Joey Gebron; Danny Medina; Jesse Bowman; Dave "The Wave" Hemmah; Tyler Edy; Frankie Hernandez; Vince Tedesco; Nick Kruger; Chris McDonald; Edwin Montal; European 8-ball champion Sandor Tot; Ike Runnels; Glenn Atwell; and yesterday’s 9-ball champion, Scott Tollefson. The best early-round matches include Jose Parica vs. Jason Kane in the opening round and potential second round match-ups between Danny Medina and Jesse Bowman and Scott Tollefson vs. Dave Hemmah. By the end of Saturday night the field will have been reduced to 48 players.
