U.S. Open Bar Table Championship Update

By Mark Whiteside

We are down to three players left in the 9-ball division, which will be ending later this evening. In the 8 PM matches, Edwin Montal of British Columbia defeated Glenn Atwell, recently relocated from Portland, OR, to Vancouver, BC, by the score of 9-5 to finish in a 5th/6th tie. Jose Parica beat Tyler Edy of Calgary, Alberta, 9-8 when Edy did not contact his object ball on a jump shot. The resulting ball-in-hand gave Parica a simple 2-9 combo for the game and match. Edy finished with a 5th/6th tie, also.

With four players left, the matches were between Jeff Heath of Reno and Scott Tollefson of Colorado for the king seat and Parica against his countryman Montal on the one-loss side. Tollefson never could seem to get anything going, while Heath played solid, unspectacular pool, missing very few shots en route to a 9-2 victory and one seat in the finals. Meanwhile, Jose Parica was giving Montal the same kind of treatment, coming out on top of a 9-4 score and eliminating Montal, who finished fourth.
