Ussery Nails Down Victory at Numan's BilliardsBy Bill Rosenberger The J. Pechauer Southeast 9-Ball Tour held the Johnson City Open at Numan's Billiards in Johnson City, TN, on April 2-3. A talented field of 36 players filled the bracket, but it was North Carolina's B.J. Ussery who outlasted Mike Adams in the final to take home the victory. Ussery was breezing through the field until he met Adams in the hot seat, and the match was one-sided from the start. Adams dominated the contest to earn a 9-3 win, and with the defeat, Ussery was forced to take his game to the semifinals to face tour director Tommy Kennedy, who had just ousted Wayne Livesay 9-8. Early on, it looked like Ussery was going to face a second straight blowout, but down 6-2, he came storming back to earn the hill-hill win, leaving Kennedy in third place, while earning another shot at Adams in the finals. The final match went back and forth, with neither Ussery nor Adams gaining a substantial lead. With the match tied up at 7 apiece, though, Ussery found his gear, taking the final four games to earn the 11-7 victory. Results: 1st B.J.
