Venue Named for Junior & Collegiate 9-Ball ChampionshipsUniversity of Michigan/Ann Arbor to host joint event next summer Colorado Springs, Colorado: The Billiard Congress of America (BCA) has finalized arrangements to combine and host its Junior National event with the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) Collegiate 9-Ball National Championships at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. The new event is officially titled the Junior & Collegiate 9-Ball National Championships and will take place at the Michigan Union Billiards & Games Room, June 15-20, 2005.
The facility offers seventeen 9-foot Brunswick Centennial billiard tables for the jointly held competitions (the BCA's 17th Junior Nationals and, coincidentally, the ACUI's own 17th Collegiate 9-Ball Championships). This is the first time that the events have been held in conjunction, and they are expected to draw over 300 young athletes to the UM campus. For the juniors, positions on the Junior World Team will be up for grabs in Ann Arbor, where top finishers in selected divisions can earn invitations to serve on a squad to compete internationally next summer. For the undergrads, ACUI titles and bragging rights will be on the line. Sponsorship Bidding OpenedIn support of the event, the BCA has opened its official sponsorship process and will accept sealed bids for category entitlement rights for premiere table, cloth, cue, ball, case, rack and chalk product sponsors. Bid packages will be issued to current BCA Voting and Associate business members, and prospective sponsors are also invited to join the BCA in order to present a bid.
