The races were to 5 in the one-loss side and 7 in the winners’ side. Young gun Hunter Lombardo met up with McWhorter in the quarterfinals and got handed a 5-3 loss to go along with his fourth-place finish. In the hot seat match, Maki and Dale Eury of South Ohio faced each other, with Maki defeating his opponent 7-4. The semifinal was a tight match between Eury and McWhorter. Eury won the first three games, but McWorter replied with a 3-game streak of his own to tie. He made nothing on his next break, and Eury ran out to the 8 ball and missed. With these easy pickings, McWorter pocketed the 8 and broke and ran the final rack to win 5-3. In a tough final match that was a rematch of the hot seat, Maki was in perfect stroke but couldn’t seem to put anything together. McWorter was able to bulldoze over him and win the match 7-0. Maki seemed shaken by the pressure put on him, and all but handed game after game to his opponent. Soon it was all over, and McWorter won the second set 7-2.
