Western BCA Pool Players Association Votes to Stay BCA In a meeting of the Western BCA Pool Players Association (WBPPA) held Sunday June 13th a motion was made to change the name of the organization to the Western ACS Pool Players Association, to disassociate with the BCA Pool Leagues, and to align with the American CueSports Alliance (ACS).
There was much discussion of the pros and cons of each national organization and representatives of both sides also fielded many questions from members. After an emotional and lengthy debate, the board took a roll-call style vote of league operators and eligible player representatives. The majority voted down the motion and the Western BCA Pool Players Association will remain affiliated with the BCA Pool Leagues. Elections were also held for President and Vice President. Mark Avlon of Lynnwood, WA was elected President. Sam Rabito of Oregon City, OR was elected Vice President. The WBPPA consists of most BCA leagues throughout Oregon, Washington, and Idaho; there were approximately 2000 members in the 2003-2004 season. The WBPPA produces a regional 8-Ball tournament in late February and a 9-ball tournament in early November at Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City, OR. The total prize money paid out last season exceeded $110,000. The dates for this year’s 9-Ball tournament are November 3rd – 7th. The association looks forward to getting this year’s leagues started and running an event even bigger than in years past! Visit InsidePOOL for the latest news from the sport of billiards and pool.
