Williams Wins Firecracker Pro Open by InsidePOOL Magazine

At this point, Williams had to face Adam Wheeler in the match to determine third place.  Wheeler had his first loss of the tournament to Williams earlier in the day, and this time it didn't look as if his luck had changed.  Except for the third rack, Wheeler didn't win one game, allowing Williams to win their match 9-1.

RodneyMorrisFirecracker2.JPGFar from being a rematch of the hot seat, in the finals, neither Morris nor Williams ever gained more than a one-game lead on his opponent.  The number of balls either had missed could be counted on one hand.  The match seesawed until the score reached 10-all going to 13 when Williams won the next two games and then broke in the 9 ball on the last rack, winning by the score of 13-10.

The next stop on the Florida Pro Tour will be the Space Coast Pro Open, taking place at Players Billiards in Melbourne, FL.  The event will be on August 2-3, 2003, and there will be $5,000 added.

1st - Charlie Williams $3,000

2nd - Rodney Morris $1,700

3rd - Bill Ferguson $1,350

4th - Adam Wheeler $1,000
