Women’s Pro Billiard Tour Announces New ESPN Contract by InsidePOOL Magazine

The announcement came following a meeting between Doug White, ESPN Programming Director, and Nigel Oldfield, WPBA’s Commercial and Media Director, along with Women’s Pro Billiard Tour Director of Operations, Peg Ledman. Said Doug White, "Women's billiards has proven to be a great draw for TV sports fans. It made sense to grow the scope of our relationship with the WPBA. ESPN and WPBA have enjoyed a great relationship since 1993 and this is set to grow over the next three years as we expand our coverage of women’s billiards."Mr. Oldfield added, “We’re excited that ESPN has offered to increase its coverage of women’s pro billiards. Having the opportunity to market WPBA programming both overseas and to the home video audience over the next three years will make our product more valuable to sponsors, and a better vehicle to expose the billiard industry to the global public.”In a highly competitive women’s sports arena (according to the Women’s Sports Foundation, there are over 100 professional women’s sports leagues/associations in existence) WPBA is one of only seven of women’s televised sports. For further information, contact Peg Ledman, WPBA Director of Operations, at 615-822-3779.
