Woolford Jumps Into First at St. Louis Shootout

By Bill Rosenberger

Planet 8-Ball in Saint Peters, MO, held the St. Louis Shootout on December 4, 2004, and the best of the bunch ran through the bracket.  "Jumpin'" Joe Woolford prevailed with a two-set sweep of the finals to take home first place.

Woolford definitely had to earn his victory, having to face Andy "Mighty" Quinn in the hot seat.  Quinn and Woolford both played tough, with neither able to gain much of a lead, but Quinn edged out the victory to go to the finals.

Woolford headed to the semifinals to face another tough opponent, Jerry Terbrok, who won the Gateway City Open in March.  Woolford was able to handle Terbrok, though, and he secured a spot in the finals, setting up the rematch with Quinn.

The first set back and forth, but it looked like Quinn was going to end the day victorious.  A late comeback by Woolford prevented the early ending, winning 11-10.  the second set was more of the same, including the score.  Woolford completed his sweep with another hill-hill victory.

Results:

1st Joe Woolford

2nd Andy Quinn

3rd Jerry Terbrok

4th Dennis Gallager
