Calgary’s SML Entertainment To Sponsor $35,000 Prize Money

Calgary AB -- SML Entertainment is pleased to announce that it will host the SML Entertainment Open 9-Ball Championship at the Olympic Oval April 19-23. Total prize money is $35,000 with the winner pocketing $10,000.

"We are proud to be able to hold this tournament in Calgary," says Dean Fisher SML’s Marketing Director. "In announcing the 9-ball tournament today, we fully expect to attract many of the world-class players from North America, the UK and Europe. Already we received a commitment from Toronto’s Alex Pagulayan the reigning World 9-Ball Champion and a crowd favourite."

Fisher added that there is room for up to 128 players during the five-day competition. He also announced that Jim Wych, a TV billiard analyst and world ranked professional snooker player for more than 15 years has been named Tournament Director.

‘We are also making available, corporate sponsorship opportunities at the Olympic Oval as well as sponsorship of professional players," explains Fisher. The last time that world class 9-ball players appeared in Calgary was the 2003 Western Canadian Open 9-Ball championships that were also held at the Olympic Oval.
