Fisher Takes JPNEWT Finale
By InsidePOOL Staff
Kelly Fisher came from the one-loss side of the chart to take JPNEWT's final event over Tina Meraglio at Hagerstown Billiards in Hagerstown, MD, on November 27-28. Fisher completed her comeback victory by overcoming a second-round defeat by road partner Val Finnie.
Fisher earned wins in the west side over Simone Hospedales, Kathleen Lawless, Pam Ogarek, Carol Clark, and Karen Armstrong before meeting Finnie again in the semifinals. Finnie's undefeated bid ended with a hot seat loss to Meraglio 7-2. Finnie then watched as Fisher turned the tables and posted a victory to reach the finals.
In the finals, it was as if Fisher was the undefeated player going after the victory. Meraglio's valiant tournament effort was put to rest with a convincing 9-1 by Fisher.
Finnie's third-place finish was worth more than just the payout. She also secured the JPNEWT's Player of the Year with her top finish.
Results:
1st Kelly Fisher $440
2nd Tina Meraglio $330
3rd Val Finnie $225
4th Karen Armstrong $125
5th Carol Clark, Eric McManus $50

McCready Leads Field for Joss Win
By Bill Rosenberger
Earthquake Keith McCready was one of many big names to make an appearance at the Joss Tour event on November 27-28. Joining him at Drexeline Billiard Club in Drexel Hill, PA, were number-one ranked WPBA player Karen Corr and last week's winner Jose Parica, but it was McCready who stood the tallest at the end of the day.
The $3,000-added event drew a field of 32, and on the final day, the top players remained alive in the brackets. In the west side, Corr ousted Parica, then faced Allen Hopkins, who had come all the way back from a first-round setback to Shaun Wilkie. He ousted Corr 9-5 and waited for an opponent in the semifinals.
In the winners' bracket, McCready was all smiles, knocking out one player after another. He faced the current Pennsylvania State 8-Ball champion Joe Dipeitro, but seemed unfazed by his title, winning easily 9-3.
Dipietro and Hopkins battled in the semifinals, with Hopkins looking for his eighth straight win. Dipietro proved to be no match against Hopkins, either, and fell by the same score of 9-3. For the third match in a row, 9-3 was the final score, and again,... |

The AWBT’s 9th Tour Stop – Alexander’s Bar and Grill, Phoenix Arizona 12 teams showed up for this $500 added scotch-doubles 9-ball fundraiser! This was one of the most fun tournaments and Alexander’s was the perfect place for it!Out of all the teams, 2 stood out above the rest. Michelle Trevino and Colin Winter reigned supreme as they went undefeated all the way to the hot seat! Their hot-seat match was against another awesome team, Susan Mello and Ann Merseal. This was a tough match and although both teams played well, Michelle and Colin were victorious and won the match 7 to 5.While Michelle and Colin waited patiently, Susan and Ann had to face Natalie Hostler and Bull Becker. Their tattoos alone were intimidating let alone how they had been kickin’ butt all weekend! But Susan and Ann are not easily intimidated and beat up on Nat and Bull, winning the match 7 to 2. |
